What's Happening in Our Community

Bike the Bricks 2012

Bike the Bricks Logo

The City of McKinney, Texas in partnership with McKinney Velo invites you to the third annual Bike the Bricks Criterium... in Historic Downtown McKinney on Friday evening, May 25, 2012. Spectators will be inches from the action as bike racers rocket through the downtown McKinney square at speeds in excess of 40 MPH, powered only by their legs, and protected from the pavement only by their skill.

Some will be trying to grab a share of the $20,000 plus prize money, for others it’s a test of survival.

Event spectators of all ages are invited to this year's Friday night free event in Downtown McKinney to enjoy cycling, friendly camaraderie and an opportunity to purchase food and drink  This year we are estimating 500 cyclists will participate in the event, and thousands of spectators will enjoy event amenities.  Warm up begins at 4:00 p.m., racing kicks off at 4:30p.m.

A portion of the proceeds raised from Bike the Bricks will be donated to McKinney Education Foundation.  McKinney Main Street is a 501 (c) nonprofit organization with a mission to ensure that downtown McKinney continues to be the vibrant, inviting, safe and growing area it is known for today.

Bike the Bricks in Downtown McKinney on May 25 is an opportunity for racers and fans to make memories while helping McKinney Main Street and McKinney Velo support a worthy cause in our community. So grab your lawn chairs, bring the family and experience a memory in the making under the stars as we celebrate what being part of McKinney Texas is all about.
